[Zodat ik deze "How To" ook internationaal kan gebruiken, is deze in
het Engels geschreven. Wellicht vertaal ik 'm nog een keer (A). Maar foto's zeggen natuurlijk al meer dan duizend woorden :-D]

How To... service your external Blow Off Valve

In this example a Forge Blow Off Valve was used. This one is
suitable for the Volvo S40/V40 2.0T/T4 (turbocharged) from 1995-
2004: FMFK049 - Volvo S40 / V40 Turbo Valve and Fitting Kit
(http://www.forgemotorsport.com/content.asp?
inc=product&cat=&product=FMFK049).

You should service this kind of Blow Off Valve annualy to keep it
properly functioning. This involves cleaning and lubricating the
internal components again.

Needed to perform the job:
Allen key #3
Big screwdriver
Some cloth and/or tissues
Carb cleaner
Grease (high temperature resistant/ceramic/synthetic, but no copper
grease!). Copper grease is not safe for aluminum parts.
Gloves (carb cleaner and the grease all both toxic)

1. First remove the BOV from the T-fitting.

2. Shown are the carb cleaner, the grease and offcourse the BOV.

3. Use the Allen key size 3 to loosen the 6 screws. Hold the upper
and lower part tight together to prevent that the spring jumps
into your face when opening the BOV.

4. All the parts exposed.

5. In detail: the bottom part of the BOV. When you look at the color of the
springs your can tell what maximum turbo pressure they are suitable
for. These are yellow (15-23 PSI / 1,0-1,6 bar).

6. In detail: the piston with old grease on it. Look inside the
piston and see how the springs fall into the piston (can be fitted
only one way around).

7. In detail: upper part where the piston slides into. Notice the 2
rubber seals. Make sure these are in good shape. Otherwise they
need to be replaced. Forge sells a servicing kit.

8. After cleaning and with carb cleaner and drying, apply grease to the pistons outside and the upper parts inside (not too little, but don't overdo it. :)

9. Also apply a thin film of grease to the mounting surface between
the upper and bottom part and a bit on the thread of the screws.

10. Now re-assemble the BOV. Tighten the screws evenly.

11. Check the proper sealing by pressing the bottom plastic part
with a screwdriver down. Hold it down and at the same time press with
your finger on the top nipple.

12. It will look like this (it holds the pressure nicely).

13. Release your finger and the piston moves back. Job done!
